CHECK VALVES (#13) ON THE BUON VINO SUPER JET
On several occasions, Tom has taken the pump apart and found a seed
or some debris on the check valve. He cleans it up and puts it back without needing to actually replace the check
valve. Do watch where your poppets and springs fly off to if you have an older unit!! If you do need to replace the
check valve.....
NOTE: Your replacement check valve kit contains one
"O" ring and one seal ring along with the check valve. If your pump is a 2000 series model, install the replacement
seal ring found in your check valve kit (the thick ring) that is the same as the one you removed. There are not any
replacement springs or poppets in the check valve replacement kit for the older units. Take care when taking things
apart that you know where your springs and poppets fly off to.
The "O" ring (small ring) is used on the 2100 series
model. Only one ring is required. Make sure you install the correct ring. ALWAYS INSTALL THE SAME STYLE RING AS THE ONE YOU
REMOVE.
Instructions to replace check-valve
for Superjet model #2100 & D48X002B
The newer units do not have springs and poppets.
|
1. |
Unbolt
the motor from the frame. |
2. |
Turn the pump head towards you. You will notice 4 screws, take them out. |
3. |
Remove
the black pump head. |
4. |
Remove
the check-valve. |
5. |
On the
check-valve is the seal ring, remove it. |
6. |
Remove
the screen to make sure it is clean in behind. It would be a good idea to rinse everything out with
water.
Note: It is not necessary to put the screen back in, only if you wish. |
7. |
Insert
the new seal ring into the check-valve. |
8. |
Insert
the new check-valve into the pump head. At this point the inside should face flush. |
9. |
Place
the pump head back on the motor and replace the screws. Make sure you reassemble the hoses to the
correct fitting. Then replace the whole unit on the frame as it was before you started.
|
10. |
It may on occasion happen that you will not get an immediate prime due to the check-valve and seal
ring being dry. Put your inlet tube up the tap and force water through to the pump, this should
help prime it.
The
check valve and seal ring are totally dry. Force some water into the tube until the pump catches
and the prime is re-established.

Instructions for the older
units.
-
Unbolt the motor from the
frame
-
Turn the Pump Head (#16 on diagram) towards
you. You will notice 4 screws, take them out.
-
Remove the black pump head,
making sure you do not lose the springs and
poppets that are inside (#14 and 15 on diagram).
-
Remove the check valve (#13 on
diagram)
-
Behind the check valve is the seal ring,
remove it.
-
Remove the screen to make sure it is clean in
behind. It would be a good idea to rinse everything out with water. You may remove the screen if you wish,
but it is not necessary.
-
Insert the new seal ring into slot. NOTE: Your
replacement check valve kit contains one "O" ring and one seal ring along with the check valve. If your
pump is a 2000 series model, install the replacement seal ring found in your check valve kit (the thick
ring). The "O" ring (small ring) is used on the 2100 series model. Only one ring is required. Make sure you
install the correct ring. ALWAYS INSTALL THE SAME STYLE RING AS THE ONE YOU REMOVE.
-
Insert the new check valve. At this point the
inside should face flush.
-
Make sure the springs are sitting upon the 2
protrusions and the poppets are on top of the springs. NOTE: Pull on the springs a little bit before
re-inserting them in the pump head. This will give the springs some extra tension.
-
Place the pump head back on the motor allowing
the poppets to be inserted into the 2 holes on the sides of the check valve. NOTE: Reassemble, making sure
the inlet and outlet correspond.
-
Re-insert bolts and tighten snugly, then
replace the whole unit on the frame. Re-attach hoses and clips.
-
The check
valve and seal ring are totally dry. Force some water into the tube BEFORE you turn the pump on,
so the prime can be re-established.
