winemakeri inc.
Manufactured and tested in accordance with CSA 22.2 No. 64-M91 and UL
499 standards. Certified for use in both Canada and the U.S.A. © 2001 winemakeri inc. PATENT PENDING.
Important Safety Instructions
The BrewBelt™ is equipped with a
polarized plug (a plug with one blade wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug
is intended to fit in a polarized outlet in one way only. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet,
reverse the plug.
If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician and change your
outlet.
A short power supply cord is attached to the belt to reduce the risks
of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long power cord. An extension cord may be safely attached to the belt
provided that care is exercised in its use. Ensure the marked electrical rating of the extension cord is at least
as great as the electrical rating of the belt itself. Ensure the extension cord is polarized. Ensure the extension
cord is not draped in such a position that it can be tripped over, snagged, or intentionally pulled on, especially
by infants or pets.
Instructions for
Use
The BrewBelt™ is an adjustable heating belt that wraps around a 7-7.5
U.S. gallon
(27-30 L) plastic pail or a 6 U.S. gallon (23 L) single-stage plastic fermenter. It
will maintain 6 U.S. gallons (23 L) of fermenting beverage (beer wort, wine must or SuperYeast™ X-Press at a
constant brewing temperature, approximately 75-80 ºF (23-27 ºC) for
a period of up to 8 days.
Home brewing in cold or damp conditions often requires this additional heat source to maintain minimum fermentation
temperatures.
Affix the belt onto a plastic pail.
1. Loosen the power cord. Slide the loosened belt over the top of the
pail so the power cord is facing you.
2. Position the belt around the outside of the pail so the belt is
approximately 1/3 down from the top of the pail.
3. Note: If using a single-stage plastic fermenter, affix the belt in
this manner: position the belt around the outside of the fermenter so the belt lies flat in the recessed belt
groove).
4. Loop the end of the power cord under and over the part of the cord
that lies flat against the pail. Ensure the belt remains in this optimum heating position.
5. Plug in the power cord. It will begin to heat
immediately.
6. DO NOT cover the belt with a blanket or any other covering. This
may cause the belt to overheat.
7. DO NOT store flammable objects near the belt while in
use.
8. DO NOT leave the belt
plugged in for more than 8 consecutive days or until the S.G. (specific gravity) drops
below 1.010, whichever
comes first.
9. DO NOT use the belt if the room temperature rises above 75-80
ºF
(23-27 ºC).
10. DO NOT attempt to affix
the belt to a glass (e.g. carboy or demijohn), metal or wooden
fermenter.
